Hi Hyp and Cypher,
Loved the podcast this week. I’m going for the weekend, and thought I’d just drop a line, since we won’t be able to communicate in-game.
–Please keep the e-peen segment! Hyp, I love hearing you kvetch about the ups and downs.
–The documentary you were thinking of regarding Terry Gilliam’s never-finished movie was “Lost in La Mancha.” Great movie. I think I like it more than I would have liked Gilliam’s movie had he finished it.
–It was fun hearing you talk a bit about “Archer,” though I swear I never heard you guys actually refer to the name of the show directly. Anyway, if you start with James Bond and mix it with the movie “Office Space,” and animate it, you might get something close.
Cypher was right in that there aren’t a lot of big actors in it. However, the title character is played by H Jon Benjamin, who played Dr. Katz’s son on “Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist,” as well as having roles on “Home Movies” and “Family Guy.” For “Family Guy” fans, he plays Carl, the store clerk who sometimes gives Chris advice, as well as Yoda in the special “Something Something Something Dark Side.” I always love his manic-depressive delivery–usually he sounds very subdued, but when his character gets angry he starts almost screeching.
Anyway, have fun, and I look forward to hearing more next week!
–Chill
I’m sorry … Cyph-o and Hyp-o,
Many many apologies for taking a month off from writing in. It’s not you, it’s me. Seriously! Okay, joking aside, I haven’t really had much to contribute to the show over the past month. Hopefully you can forgive me!
So yah, I’ve been playing lots of Torchlight in large part due to my 2nd Xbox 360 “red ringing.” My wife bought it for me as an early Christmas present and only recently did I truly dig into the game and discover just how fantastic it really is.
If anyone has played it, they’ll instantly think “Diablo” and for good reason. Torchlight’s development was led by Travis Baldree (Fate & Mythos), Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer (Diablo & Diablo II). So it’s no accident that Torchlight feels just like Diablo, because it is Diablo.
Torchlight has filled that hole in my life as I wait for Diablo III. If any of your listeners have been itching for D3, they should immediately pick up Torchlight for $20 (although it goes on sale for $10 fairly frequently).
Anyhoo, I know neither of you have kept up the exploits of Jack Bauer, but I wanted to share that the final 3 hours of season 8 were incredible and salvaged the season for me. Until Jack went all “Darth Jack” season 8 was pretty “meh” and I was worried that 24 was going to go out on a very sour note. Needless to say the possibilty of naming my forth-coming child “Jack Bauer” is back on the table.
Okay, I kid. But wouldn’t that make for an awesome first name?
I’ll end my email with a movie suggestion for you and your listeners. Last night my wife and I watched “Moon” which was directed by Duncan Jones, (David Bowie’s son). Awesome, awesome flic.
Moon’s basic premise involves the astronaut Sam Bell, played by Sam Rockwell, who is employed by Lunar and stationed on the moon to oversee operations of harvesting an energy resource discovered on the moon.
Sam’s only companion on the station for the past 3 years is an AI named GERTY, voiced by Kevin Spacey, and as you might expect the isolation from human contact begins to drive Sam into hallucinations and that’s where the movie really builds momentum.
I don’t won’t to divulge anything else about the plot, because it would completely spoil the movie for you and your listeners. If you’re hankering for a smart sci-fi movie, give Moon a shot. It’s currently available via instant queue on Netflix for those of us in the States.
Take care guys, and I can’t wait for the 1 year anniversary of the show. I have something I’m working on for you guys *smirk*
Your bud, Nevik

Sick of not raiding. We are on the Lich King and due to different circumstances haven’t gone back to him. Worried that the patch will come out this week, which will wipe our saved instance and force us to start from the beginning.
BRK brought up an interesting idea on Hunting Party Podcast that hunters should use Eyes of the Beast to jump their pets down from ledges and hit stay. Have not had the chance to try this yet.

Re: Operation Gnomergan/echo isles
The events themselves are not currently scheduled to go live with patch 3.3.5. We’re simply taking the opportunity on the PTRs to test these events while they’re up and running in case we do not have another opportunity to do so before marking these events live.
The release of the events will be contingent upon the development of other features leading up to Cataclysm, but their release will likely not coincide directly with a patch. They’re events that simply need to be “turned on” when we’re ready.

Loved it. Great opening. Awesome rules. Why’d they use a Hummer- Possibly the worst gas milage around. Great Cameo. Reminds me of a film version of Dead Rising. Definately a movie to own.
