Feliz Quatro de Julio Hyp and Happy Independence Day Cypher!
First of all I would like to extend a huge congratulations on your 50th episode! I’ve been a listener from the start and the Addicted has easily become one of my favorite podcasts.
For your 1 year anniversary I’m working on putting together a “Best of” clip show, but unfortunately real life has punched me in the face and I’m not going to make the deadline. Besides the lack of time I’ve had to completely focus on putting this together, the scope started to exceed my initial projections (think mini-show, 30+ mins long). Rest assured, I will get it done, just not when I was hoping to.
Anyhoo, on with the rest of the email …
As you’re reading this, my family and I should be on our way to the Magical Kingdom of Disneyland for some well-deserved rest and relaxation. We’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of our marriage as well as our daughter’s upcoming 5th birthday.
It’s been a long time since my wife and I last visited Disneyland and this will be our daughter’s first time to the park. We’re anxious to get down to Anaheim and should be leaving no latter than 6am PDT Monday morning. (For Hyp: It should take us anywhere from 6.5 – 8.5 hours depending on traffic and rest stops to drive from Sacramento to Anaheim).
We’re staying just across the street from the entrance to Disneyland and California Adventure and have park-hopper passes for 4 days. My wife and I can’t wait to take thousands of pictures of our daughter receiving hugs from all of the Disney characters. (We’ll try not to spam twitter with them
But I think that’s enough about Disney, after listening to episode 49 and the mention of heist movies, I have two that immediately came to mind: The Inside Man, and the Maiden Heist. The Inside Man stars Denzel Washington and my favorite actor, Clive Owen. I’m sure most of your listeners have either seen the Inside Man or are familiar with it, so I’ll skip the plot synopsis, but if anyone hasn’t seen it, I would definitely recommend it.
The Maiden Heist is another great heist movie that I don’t ever remember seeing trailers for. It has a lot of star power with Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, and William H. Macy.
Each of the main characters are security guards at an art museum and are heartbroken to learn that each of their favorite pieces are being transferred to a Danish museum. Rather than watch their favorite pieces go, they devise a plan to steal the pieces and replace them with replicas during the move.
The Maiden Heist had my wife and I in stitches, (I mean how can you go wrong with the cast?) so it’s an easy recommendation to you and your listeners.
Anyways, this email is getting a bit long so I’ll wrap it up. I’m sure next week I’ll have another lengthy email with the recount of my family’s adventures in the Magical Kingdom.
Your bud,
Nevik

Paranoid:
Changes to the group, Fur took her shammy who had raided with us on the alts runs to ‘a friends guild’ and later in the week also removed her hunter to ‘join a 25 man guild’. She didn’t speak to either me or Teo . She said ‘hyp will be happy’ as she left to zoo …
Cleo has resigned also from Paranoid, he was kind enough to explain to Teo and I that his wifes work schedule had changed and he had effectively ‘got a better offer’
Wish him well and hope he can return at some point if he has free weekends.
Teo is planning to consolidate the alts and mains run into one group to deal with attendance issues and people leaving.
Alt Run:
Rolled the lower Spire. – Uneventfull, the Airship seemed bugged again.
Stepped into the Ruby Scrotum. Always fun to see new content. No problems with the trash (they have a few tricks up their sleeve like knock backs.)

Hunter Pets in Cataclysm
We’re in the middle of converting the stables over to the new model.
New model:
You have 5 active pets and 20 (or more) stable slots. You can summon an active pet whenever you want, out of combat. This replaces the remote stable spell. In other words, if you have a crab, a bear and a wolf, you can swap from wolf to bear in between encounters.
You must visit a stable master to change which are the active pets though. There are a lot of stable slots, so you can catch Spirit Beasts or rare spawns or whatever you want, even if you don’t think you will use them often. (Source)
Cataclysm Gear much more powerful than WotLK’s
Since we’re only raising the level cap to 85 in Cataclysm, one of the goals is to pack as much content and gameplay as possible into the new 78-85 zones and dungeons. We don’t want the leveling experience from 80-85 to feel as if it’s only half of the content we’ve provided in the last two expansions. So, with that comes more substantial scaling of items and character power with each level gained. A level-82 character should feel significantly more powerful than a level-80 character, for example. There are some epic and legendary items from Wrath of the Lich King raid content which may take a while to replace, but chances are most of your gear will be replaced by the time you start running level-85 normal 5-player dungeons.
The first rule of thumb, as usual, is that you’ll probably be focused on the stats most important to your class. If you’re, say, an Unholy death knight, you probably won’t be replacing items until the strength on the new gear outweighs the strength on what is currently equipped, even with gems and enchants considered. By the time this occurs you’ll also likely be incorporating the benefits of Mastery rating.
[...] The concept is very much the same as the previous two expansions. We expect players leveling new characters in BoA gear, questing greens and maybe even some dungeon blues to be able to head into either of the first two Cataclysm zones at level 78 and do just fine. If you’re wearing mostly quest-reward items, you can expect to replace them very quickly in Vashj’ir or Mount Hyjal. (Source)

Cypher: Up in the Air
Director:Jason Reitman -Juno, Thank you for not smoking.
Actors: George Clooney,Vera Farmiga, Jason Bateman, JK Simmons.
My Take: A bit slow… but a great movie. George Clooney should be a dislikeable character but is sympathetic . Ends on an uncharacteristic down note for hollywood. Not a comedy, but has a dark humor.
MetaCritic 83
100 Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman
Up in the Air is light and dark, hilarious and tragic, romantic and real. It’s everything that Hollywood has forgotten how to do; we’re blessed that Jason Reitman has remembered
100 USA Today Claudia Puig
Timeliness can be tricky to pull off convincingly in movies. It’s tough to capture an era while it’s still happening, yet Up in the Air does so brilliantly, with wit and humanity.
50 Slate Dana Stevens
Full of clever one-liners, winning performances, and wistful indie music. It’s impossible not to like it, which is precisely what’s so annoying about it.
Hypknotoad : City Island (2009)
Director: Raymond De Felitta

You needn’t have colorful Italian relatives, like myself, to enjoy this boisterous and warm-hearted film, which sidesteps cliche while embracing the hope and love in loony dysfunctional families everywhere.
60 New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman
The performances are absurdly broad, and each story line is more outlandish than the last. But De Felitta’s approach is so easygoing, and the waterside setting so irresistibly charming, you’re bound to walk out in a great mood. How many movies can do that for you?

Watched 4 episodes. Up to ep12 -”No Brainer”
The auditor is really annoying
Wished we knew more about the pattern at this point. The characters seem to be spinning their wheels and missing the big picture.
Whats the deal with Loeb? -why spinal tap olivia? -why doesn’t olivia ask him to explain what he means by “we saved you” and “dont you at least know who the two sides are?”
No brainer Didn’t seem to fit in to the main arc. Looked like just one guy with skills acting alone?
